Gaffer (Entry) for Independent Documentary
Hey everyone, we're on the lookout for a passionate entry-level Gaffer for an upcoming independent documentary project here in Toronto. It's a character-driven doc exploring the vibrant local music scene, with a focus on a few emerging artists. We're aiming for a raw, authentic so adaptability and a good eye for natural light are key, but we'll also have some controlled interview setups. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan devised with the DP, managing our small lighting kit, and ensuring everything is safely set up. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience on a real production and learn the ropes. We're looking for someone enthusiastic who wants to contribute creatively and grow their skills. You don't need a huge reel, but any prior experience, even student films or shorts, is a plus. If you have some basic knowledge of lighting equipment and safety, that's ideal. We'll be shooting intermittently over roughly 3-4 weeks in late spring, mainly on weekends and some evenings. We'll provide all meals on set and a copy of the finished film for your portfolio. This is a volunteer position, but a fantastic way to network and build your resume in a supportive environment.
