Gaffer (Feature Film)

Feature Film Lighting Portland, OR mid Budget: $200-400/day

Hey all, I'm a Production Designer on an independent feature film shooting this fall in Portland, OR, and I'm looking for a kickass Gaffer to join our crew. It's a dark comedy, kind of a quirky road trip movie with some really fun visual opportunities. We're aiming for a stylized, slightly surreal look which means some interesting lighting challenges and creative freedom. You'll be leading the lighting department, working closely with our DP to bring the visual aesthetic to life. Key responsibilities include designing and executing lighting plots, managing the lighting team (best boys, electricians), and ensuring safe and efficient power distribution. Experience with various lighting units, generators, and a strong understanding of color temperature and exposure are essential. Please have a solid reel demonstrating your work on narrative projects. Shoot dates are approximately late September through October, standard 10-12 hour days. We'll provide lunch, snacks, and craft services, along with necessary production insurance. Compensation is $200-400/day, depending on experience. This is a mid-level position, so we're looking for someone with a few features or significant short film experience under their belt. Looking forward to hearing from you!
