Gaffer for Alt-Pop Music Video

Hey everyone, Alana here. I'm putting together a crew for an upcoming alt-pop music video for a local Vancouver artist and I'm looking for a Gaffer to join us. This independent production has a really cool, retro-futuristic aesthetic inspired by 80s synthwave, so we'll be playing a lot with practical lights, gels, and atmospheric effects to create a unique visual world. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan, managing our small lighting package, and ensuring we achieve the specific mood and visual style we're aiming for. This is an entry-level position, but some prior experience on set, even student projects, is a definite plus. You'll need to know your way around basic lighting setups, safety protocols, and general grip equipment. Please have a reel or portfolio showcasing any lighting work you've done. We anticipate a 1-2 day shoot, likely in late July or early August, exact dates TBD. Days will be 10-12 hours. We'll provide lunch, snacks, and good vibes, plus a flat rate of $250 per day. It’s a great chance to get some solid experience on a creative project and network with other passionate filmmakers.
