Gaffer for Sci-Fi Drama Short

We're looking for a talented Gaffer to join our small, enthusiastic crew for an upcoming sci-fi drama short film. This project delves into themes of artificial intelligence and human connection, set against a stylish, near-future backdrop. We’re aiming for a visually striking, moody aesthetic that relies heavily on evocative lighting. As Gaffer, you’ll be responsible for executing the lighting plan, working closely with our DP to achieve the desired look and feel for each shot. This includes setting up and striking lighting equipment, managing power, and ensuring safety on set. We're open to all experience levels, from passionate newcomers eager to learn to seasoned pros looking for their next creative outlet. What's most important is a strong understanding of lighting principles, keen attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit. We don't expect you to bring any specialized gear, as basic lighting kits will be provided. However, please mention any equipment you do have access to in your application. Shoot dates are TBC, but we're looking at late July or early August, likely across 3-4 days in Manchester. This is a volunteer position, but we'll cover all meals and you'll receive a copy of the final film for your reel.
