Gaffer for Sci-Fi Short Film

Hey everyone, Derek here, a 1st AC looking to crew up a really cool independent short film we've got coming together. It's a sci-fi drama, pretty intimate, with a strong focus on character and atmosphere. Think 'Arrival' meets 'Ex Machina' in terms of tone. We're looking for a skilled Gaffer to join our team. Your main responsibilities will involve designing and executing the lighting plan in collaboration with the DP, managing the grip and electric team, and ensuring all lighting is safe and effective. We need someone who can work creatively within a modest budget, adaptable to various practical and studio locations. Bring your own basic kit if you have one, but we'll be renting a solid lighting package. Ideally, you'll have experience gaffing narrative shorts or features, and a reel demonstrating your work is definitely a plus. Open to all experience levels, as long as you've got passion and a good work ethic. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late July, over 3-4 days. Longish days, probably 10-12 hours, but we always prioritize a safe and collaborative set. Meals, craft services, and a great crew are provided. Let's make something awesome together!
