Gaffer (Mid-Level) for Detroit Feature Film
Gaffer wanted for an upcoming independent feature film shooting in Detroit. This is a gritty, character-driven crime drama with a suspenseful tone, exploring themes of loyalty and consequence in a complex urban setting. We're aiming for a stylized, atmospheric look that will heavily rely on your lighting expertise to enhance the mood and narrative. Key responsibilities include designing and executing lighting setups, managing a small grip and electric team, ensuring safe operation of all equipment, and collaborating closely with our DP and director to bring their vision to life. You'll be working with a passionate crew dedicated to making a visually compelling film. We're looking for someone with at least 3-5 feature film or equivalent long-form experience as a Gaffer. You should be familiar with various lighting fixtures, power distribution, and safety protocols. Owning a basic lighting package or having established rental house connections is a plus. Please share your reel or a portfolio showcasing your lighting work. Shoot dates are approximately late September or early October 2026 for about 4 weeks, with typical 10-12 hour days. Production will provide all major gear, crew support, and meals.
