Lighting for Feature Film

Hey Austin area Gaffers, we're on the hunt for a skilled and passionate Gaffer to join our crew for an upcoming independent feature film. It's a sci-fi drama, quite character-driven, exploring themes of memory and identity with a slightly unsettling, atmospheric tone. Think 'Arrival' meets 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' but on a smaller, more intimate scale. Your expertise will be crucial in helping us craft the visual mood for this ambitious story. You'll be responsible for overseeing all lighting aspects, working closely with our DP, managing the grip and electric team, and ensuring safe and efficient lighting setups. We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of lighting techniques, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit. While we'd prefer someone with Gaffer experience on at least one feature, we're open to considering talented individuals with substantial experience in a Best Boy Electric or similar role who are ready to step up. Please have access to a basic G&E package, or at least experience with standard rental house inventory. We can provide some specialized equipment. Shoot dates are approximately late September to mid-October, mostly standard 10-12 hour days, a few overnights likely. We're a small, dedicated team and this is a deferred compensation project, offering a backend percentage. Please send over your reel or relevant work samples.
