Lighting for Short Film

I'm a storyboard artist working on an exciting independent sci-fi short film, a blend of psychological thriller and cosmic horror set in a near-future Chicago. We're looking for a talented Gaffer to join our passionate crew. Your primary role will be to execute the lighting design, working closely with the DP to bring our vision to life, shaping mood and atmosphere crucial to the story's intensity. We need someone with 2-3 short film or equivalent experience in a Gaffer or Best Boy Electric role. You should be proficient with various lighting setups, including LED, practicals, and natural light augmentation. Experience with small generator operation and basic electrical safety is a must. While we have some essential gear, having your own basic kit (stands, stingers, clamps, gels, diffusion) would be a huge plus. Please share your reel or relevant work samples when applying. Our anticipated shoot dates are 3-4 days over two weekends in late July or early August, primarily evenings and overnight to capture the desired ambiance. Meals, snacks, and local travel expenses will be provided. This is a passion project with deferred payment (backend percentage), so we're looking for someone who believes in the project and is eager to contribute creatively to a compelling independent production.
