Locations for Documentary

Documentary Locations Los Angeles, CA mid Budget: $150-300/day

Looking for a proactive and resourceful Location Scout/Manager for an upcoming independent documentary feature based in Los Angeles. This film explores the vibrant, underground street art scene, so we're seeking someone with an eye for compelling, gritty, and visually interesting L.A. specific locations (alleyways, rooftops, abandoned buildings, etc.) that capture this world authentically. We need someone who can not only find these unique spots but also navigate the process of obtaining necessary permits and access, often with challenging timelines. Key responsibilities include scouting and photographing potential locations, creating detailed location breakdowns, negotiating usage agreements, and managing on-site logistics during production. Experience with independent documentary productions is a strong plus. You should be familiar with Los Angeles permitting processes and have a good network of contacts for property access. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential. This is for approximately 10-15 shoot days, spread across several months, with additional prep days as needed. We're aiming for principal photography to start late summer/early fall. Rate is $150-300/day, depending on experience and scope of work. Mileage will be reimbursed. Please send your resume, a brief cover letter highlighting relevant experience, and any previous location scouting portfolios or lookbooks. Looking forward to hearing from you.
