Locations for Feature Film

A coming-of-age drama about a young musician finding her voice in the vibrant Austin music scene is seeking a talented Locations professional. This independent production needs a dedicated individual to help us discover and secure the perfect backdrops for our story. As our Locations Scout/Manager, your primary responsibilities will include researching and scouting potential filming locations in and around Austin, negotiating access agreements, managing permits, and ensuring smooth on-set logistics related to locations. You'll work closely with the Director and Production Designer to realize their vision, balancing creative needs with practical considerations and budget. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone looking to build their filmography in a key department. We're looking for someone with excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong understanding of Austin geography, and a proactive attitude. Experience with location scouting or management on student films, commercials, or shorts is a plus. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance are required. While no specific gear is needed, familiarity with location scouting apps or software is beneficial. Shoot dates are primarily in October 2026, with prep starting immediately. Expect about 3-4 weeks of work, with some longer days. Compensation is $500-800/day, depending on experience, paid weekly. We will provide all necessary production insurance and a modest per diem for incidental expenses.
