Music Video Director, Indie R&B (Chicago)

Seeking a talented Director for a 1-2 day music video shoot during the last week of September 2026, compensated at $150-300/day. We're looking for a creative vision to bring an independent R&B artist's track to life. This is for an upbeat, soulful song with a modern, slightly nostalgic vibe, focusing on dynamic performances and evocative visuals. We want something fresh that stands out on social media and streaming platforms, showcasing the artist's unique energy. Your responsibilities will include developing a compelling concept with the artist, creating a detailed shot list, overseeing the creative direction on set, and collaborating with a small crew to execute the vision effectively. Candidates should have previous experience directing music videos or narrative shorts, demonstrated through a strong reel. Access to your own basic directing kit (monitor, slate, perhaps a small lighting kit for accent) is a plus, but not strictly required. We're looking for someone who can work efficiently on an independent production with a limited budget, bringing a high level of professionalism and artistic integrity. Shoot will be based in Chicago, approximately 8-10 hours per day. We will provide a small crew (DP, AD, PA) and basic production support. Some prep work will be involved in the weeks leading up to the shoot, coordinated remotely.
