Production Design for Short Film

We need a Production Designer to help us bring our independent sci-fi short film to life. This is a passion project with a dark, atmospheric tone, blending classic sci-fi elements with a unique, unsettling aesthetic. We're looking for someone creative who can transform practical locations and minimal resources into a visually compelling world, making the most of what we have. Your role will involve concept development, set decoration, prop sourcing (or creation), and collaborating closely with the director and cinematography team to establish the film's visual identity. You'll be responsible for designing and executing the look and feel of our primary location and any specific set pieces required. We're open to all experience levels; a strong visual eye and a can-do attitude are more important than an extensive resume. While this is a volunteer position, it's a great opportunity to showcase your design skills and build your reel on an ambitious short. We're aiming for a 2-day shoot around October 3, 2026, with about 3 weeks of prep time leading up to it. We can provide some materials budget and transportation for set dressing/props as needed.
