Screenwriter, Documentary Series (Remote OK)

We are looking for a talented screenwriter to join an independent production as we develop a new documentary series. This project explores the fascinating untold stories behind iconic moments in pop culture history, with a focus on human interest and a slightly nostalgic, investigative tone. We need someone who can hit the ground running with strong research skills and a knack for compelling narrative structure. Your primary responsibilities will include developing detailed outlines, writing scripts for 30-minute episodes, and collaborating closely with the director and research team to refine story arcs and character development. We’re looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of professional screenwriting experience, ideally in documentary or non-fiction television. A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to craft engaging stories from factual material is essential. Please include a link to your reel or writing samples in your application. This is a remote-friendly position, but preference will be given to candidates in the Atlanta, GA area for occasional in-person meetings, if needed. The compensation is a flat rate of $250 per day. Project duration is anticipated to be 3-4 months, with potential for extension. We anticipate needing about 3-4 full days of work per week, with some flexibility. All necessary research materials and access to archival footage will be provided.
