Senior Sound Designer, Austin Doc

We are seeking a senior Sound Designer for an upcoming documentary project shooting primarily in Austin, TX, with some travel. Exact shoot dates are flexible, but we anticipate a 6-8 week post-production period starting in late Q3 2024. This documentary explores compelling personal narratives within a unique cultural context, blending intimate interviews with evocative ambient soundscapes. We're aiming for a rich, immersive sonic experience that deeply connects viewers to our subjects' journeys. Your responsibilities will include comprehensive sound design, foley creation, dialogue editing, and final mix preparation. We need someone who can bring a strong creative vision to the audio, using sound to enhance emotional tone and storytelling. Applicants should have extensive experience with documentary features or high-end episodic content, a proven track record of delivering exceptional audio, and a strong understanding of current industry standards and workflows. Please have your own professional-grade studio setup and all necessary software (e.g., Pro Tools, Izotope RX). A killer reel showcasing your best work is essential. This is a crucial role for our small, dedicated independent production, and we value collaborative spirit. This is a demanding but rewarding project, offering the chance to contribute significantly to a meaningful story. We are offering competitive rates of $500-800 per day, dependent on experience and scope. While the primary work will be remote, some in-person sessions in Austin will be required for final review and collaboration.
