Senior Sound Designer for Sci-Fi Short Film

Hey folks, Robin here. I'm storyboarding an independent short film, a really cool sci-fi piece with a dark, atmospheric tone, and we're looking for a senior sound designer to join our crew. This project has some ambitious world-building, and sound will be crucial in bringing it to life. We need someone who can craft everything from alien soundscapes to subtle, tension-building atmospherics. Your main responsibilities will include designing all sound effects, creating ambient textures, and working closely with the director and re-recording mixer to achieve the desired auditory experience. You'll also be responsible for foley design and supervising any foley artists we bring on. We're looking for someone with significant experience (5+ years) in narrative short or feature sound design. You should have your own professional-grade sound design software and access to a high-quality sound effects library. A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your creative sound design work in genres like sci-fi, horror, or drama is a must. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late September in the Chicago area. This is a paid position at $100-200/day, exact rates depending on experience and scope. We'll be providing all necessary project files and clear communication throughout the process. Expect to work full project days during the design and mixing phases.
