Sound Designer, Feature Doc

Documentary Sound Design 🌍 Remote mid Budget: $500-800/day

Seeking a talented Sound Designer for an upcoming independent feature documentary. We're looking at rough shoot dates in late September to early October for principal photography, with post-production aiming for a late 2024 completion. The rate is $500-800 per day, dependent on experience and deliverables. We're open to both remote and Los Angeles-based candidates. This documentary explores the intersection of art and social justice, telling a powerful, intimate story through a somewhat impressionistic lens. We need someone who can craft an immersive soundscape, using ambient sounds, foley, and subtle effects to deepen the emotional impact without being obtrusive. Think nuanced sound design that enhances naturalistic environments and character headspace. Key responsibilities include designing and mixing the full sonic experience, including dialogue cleanup, sound effects creation, and atmospheric design for a feature-length documentary (approximately 90-100 minutes runtime). You'll be working closely with the editor to develop the film's auditory language. Applicants should have professional-grade sound design software and be proficient in industry-standard DAWs. Please provide a reel or portfolio showcasing your documentary or narrative sound design work, particularly projects with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and subtle storytelling. Mid-level experience in feature-length projects is preferred. We aim to provide all raw sound files and a locked picture for your work.
