Best Boy Electric (Feature Film, Manchester)

We need a motivated Best Boy Electric to join our independent feature film crew in Manchester, starting late October 2026. This is a dramatic thriller, a character-driven piece with psychological depth, exploring themes of memory and perception. It's a challenging story with intricate lighting needs, offering a chance to really contribute creatively on a passionate project. Your primary responsibility will be assisting the Gaffer, managing lighting equipment, and overseeing the electrical team on set. This includes setting up and striking lights, distributing power, ensuring safety, and troubleshooting any electrical issues. You'll work closely with the camera and art departments to bring our visual style to life. We're looking for someone with some experience on set, even if it's primarily as a Spark. A strong understanding of electrical safety protocols, basic lighting setups, and power distribution is essential. You should be proactive, a good problem-solver, and a team player. A basic toolkit is expected, but specialized gear will be provided. We're looking for someone who shares our passion for independent filmmaking. Shoot dates are approximately 25-30 days over a 5-week period, mostly standard 10-12 hour days, primarily in and around Manchester. We operate as a tight-knit, collaborative crew. This is a partnership opportunity, offering a Co-producer credit and a share in backend profits. We believe in sharing the success with those who help build it.
