Lighting for Feature Film
Seeking an experienced Gaffer for an independent feature film shooting approximately 4-5 weeks, primarily in the first half of October 2026. This is a paid position, offering $2000-3000/week, based on experience and the final schedule. Our upcoming project is a gritty, character-driven dramatic thriller set in modern-day Los Angeles, exploring themes of resilience and moral compromise. We're aiming for a moody, naturalistic visual style, with moments of high tension and suspense. We're looking for someone creative who can achieve cinematic looks efficiently with a smaller crew and budget. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the DP to execute the lighting plan, overseeing the lighting crew (Best Boy Electric, Electrics), managing and maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. You'll be instrumental in shaping the film's visual atmosphere and helping us achieve our aesthetic goals. This is a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and adaptability are crucial. Candidates must have significant experience as a Gaffer on at least 3-4 feature films, or extensive episodic/commercial work. Your own basic kit (meters, tools) is a plus, but all major lighting packages will be provided. A strong reel showcasing your work, particularly in dramatic or thriller genres, is essential. We're looking for a team player with a positive attitude and a passion for storytelling through light.
