Cinematography for Short Film
I'm Amara, a documentary filmmaker working on an upcoming narrative short based in Chicago. It's a dark comedy, kind of a 'heist gone wrong' scenario, with a very specific, stylized visual tone, so lighting will be key to selling the humor and tension. I'm looking for a senior-level Gaffer, someone with a strong eye, who can translate our visual concepts into impactful lighting. You'd be responsible for designing and executing the lighting plot, collaborating closely with the DP and me. This means ensuring safety, managing equipment, and leading a small lighting team efficiently. We're looking for someone with extensive experience on narrative shorts or features, a strong portfolio demonstrating creative lighting solutions, and familiarity with various lighting packages. Ideally, you’d have some of your own basic kit (stands, stingers, comms, etc.) but we will be renting a comprehensive G&E package to supplement. Shoot dates are TBD, likely 3-4 days in late summer/early fall, 10-12 hour days. We're offering a flat rate of $250/day. Please send your reel or website with relevant work. Looking forward to hearing from you!
