Entry-Level Sound Designer, NOLA Doc

Documentary Sound Design New Orleans, LA entry Budget: $200-400/day

Hey filmmakers, I'm helping put out the call for an entry-level Sound Designer for an upcoming independent documentary project. We're shooting in New Orleans and diving deep into the untold stories of local musicians, exploring the city's unique soundscapes. It's a character-driven project, observational in style, with a raw and authentic tone. We're looking for someone who can help us craft an immersive audio experience, really bringing the city and its music to life. Your main responsibilities would include cleaning up production audio, designing and implementing sound effects, and collaborating with the editor and director on overall sound mixing for the film. You'll need to have your own sound design workstation and a good understanding of audio post-production software. A reel showcasing your previous work, even student or personal projects, is a must. We anticipate principal photography finishing up in the next few weeks, with sound design work beginning in late July or early August. We're offering a rate of $200-400 per day, depending on experience and the scope of work each day. Specific hours will be flexible and largely depend on your workflow. We'll provide all necessary source audio files and a detailed picture lock for you to work from. This is a great opportunity to get a credit on a meaningful documentary and get your foot in the door with a passionate team. Reach out with your reel and a brief email about why you're interested!
