Editor, Mid-Level for Music Documentary

Hey everyone, I'm a Music Supervisor working on an exciting independent music documentary, shot here in Nashville. It's a character-driven piece focused on an iconic figure in the local country music scene, blending archival footage with present-day interviews and performances. The tone is intimate and reflective, celebrating their legacy. We're looking for a skilled editor to help us craft this narrative. Your main responsibilities will include ingesting and organizing footage, assembling rough cuts, refining sequences, and collaborating closely with the director to achieve the desired pacing and emotional arc. You'll also be responsible for basic sound mixing and color correction for the initial assembly phases. We need someone with at least 3-5 years of documentary editing experience, strong storytelling instincts, and proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro. Please have a solid reel demonstrating your narrative work, especially on character-focused projects. This is a work-from-home position primarily, although occasional in-person sessions in Nashville will be required for review and collaboration. We're aiming to begin editing in late summer/early fall, with a flexible schedule. Compensation for this project is solely backend, a percentage of future sales/distribution, so we're looking for someone passionate about the project's success.
