Senior 1st AC, Dark Comedy Short

An independent production is seeking an experienced 1st Assistant Camera to join our small, dedicated team for an upcoming short film. This project is a dark comedy, exploring themes of mistaken identity and absurd bureaucracy, with a visually distinct, slightly heightened tone that relies on precise camera work. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can maintain impeccable focus and camera readiness. Your key responsibilities will include managing all aspects of the camera department, ensuring focus pulls are sharp, maintaining equipment, and assisting the DP in achieving their vision. We require candidates with significant professional experience as a 1st AC, ideally on narrative projects. Please have your own kit (follow focus, matte box, monitor, etc.) and a strong reel showcasing your work. We are open to a variety of camera packages, but experience with cinema cameras (e.g., Arri, RED, Sony FX series) is essential. Shoot dates are approximately 3 days, currently planned for late October 2026. We anticipate 10-12 hour days. This is a volunteer position, but we will provide meals, craft services, and a copy of the final film for your reel. We value collaboration and a positive attitude on set.
