Directing for Documentary

An independent production is seeking a Director for an upcoming documentary, "The Coral Keepers," exploring innovative efforts to restore Miami's endangered coral reefs. This film will be a visually compelling and emotionally resonant story of conservation and community, aiming for festival submission and impact distribution. We're looking for someone who can craft a powerful narrative, guide interviewees, and maintain a consistent artistic vision for this important environmental story. Key responsibilities include leading the creative direction, working closely with the Cinematographer, shaping the story arc in collaboration with the Editor, and overseeing the artistic integrity from pre-production through post-production. While prior documentary directing experience is a plus, we are open to emerging talent with a strong reel demonstrating storytelling ability and a passion for environmental issues. You will not be expected to provide camera or sound gear. The core shooting will involve about 3-4 weeks of work, primarily in Miami-Dade County, expected during the second half of October 2026. This is a deferred compensation position with a backend percentage, suited for someone passionate about the project's mission and looking to make a significant impact. We'll be reviewing applications through October 21, 2026.
