Gaffer for Sci-Fi Short Film, Atlanta

Short Film Lighting Atlanta, GA any Budget: $500-800/day

Our upcoming sci-fi short film, a suspenseful exploration of artificial intelligence and human connection, needs a talented Gaffer. We're telling a grounded, intimate story that relies heavily on atmospheric lighting to build tension and emotional depth. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan devised with the DP, managing the lighting crew, and ensuring all electrical safety protocols are met. This includes setting up and striking lights, gels, diffusers, and control equipment, as well as working closely with other departments to integrate lighting into the set design. We're looking for someone with experience in independent production, a strong understanding of various lighting fixtures and techniques (LED, HMI, tungsten), and a keen eye for detail. While we do have some basic gear, having your own kit (e.g., small LED panels, stingers, C-stands) would be a plus, though not strictly required. Please share your reel or a portfolio demonstrating your lighting work. The principal photography is planned for early October 2026, over 3-4 intensive shoot days, with a few prep days beforehand. We're offering a competitive day rate of $500-800, depending on experience and gear contribution. Meals and craft services will be provided on set.
